Kia Ora! Kei te peehea koutou?
I don't know what my name in Maori, I guess it's not from the Bible, so don't bother.
Anyway, it was fun. I think everyone had fun in Te Reo class (mind you, we didn't have to face the exams! that's a bonus ey!)
What I learn about Te Reo is that in terms of linguistics it is
interesting. Kia Ora can well mean 'Hello' when you meet and greet
someone (as personally you can also greet with ''teena
koe/korua/koutou" depending on the number of persons you address), and
can also mean 'thank you' when you're lent a book by someone, for
example. The word 'wai' as well means 'water' as 'who' in 'ko wai
to matua' (who is your father?)? And what we learn in English
that culturally, we use 'what' in asking 'what's your name?' and in
Maori we can use 'ko wai to ingoa?' which 'wai' is used for wh-question
word 'what'. Interesting isn't it?
